Podcasts : Solid Steel, The Sound Republic & Percussion Labs

The word Podcast has been bandied about by pretty much every radio station. The thought of "the archers" being beamed straight to your i-tunes is enough to put anyone off further investigation. And this post does seem like a bit of a cop-out, but on offer from the links below are over 30hrs of top quality mixes, radio and live slots. Not to be sniffed at all.

Solid Steel.
The ninjas have already over 20hrs of top notch mixing and beat-foolery from people like steinski & dj food.

In I-tunes type "solid steel" into the podcast search bar, and click "subscribe" - or paste this rss feed into your app : http://www.ninjatune.net/solidsteel/rss.xml

All details and tracklistings for these shows can be found at the Solidsteel site

The sound Republic
aka Chicago-based house music duo John Mork & Frankie J only have two so far, but their mix for August 2005 is a dirty-wonky-funky masterpiece, and worth this post alone.

In I-tunes type "sound republic" into the podcast search bar, and click "subscribe" - or follow the link from their site.

Its worth having a read while youre there as they've got loads going on and a great selection of mixes.

Percussion Labs
The quality of mixes & liveslots stored here is pretty much unrivalled in the field of minimal techno & electronica. Its was here that gave you Lusines amazing Live slot posted earlier this year.

All these are available now as a podcast - and any new ones will automatically come to you once youve subscribed. The Lusine & the Andrea Ayotte & MiniSystem can be heartily recommended as a good place to start.

In I-tunes type "percussion lab" into the podcast search bar, and click "subscribe" - or you can select the podcast link from below andrea & minisystems photo here

Glitch v1.3 beta. Now available for free!

Big news - Glitch by dBlue is now free?!

Any livecut or supatrigga headz should definitely get there hands on this, its the daddy. Glitch lives up to its name. Its a highly-adjustable, semi-automated, realtime audio manipulation system which attempts to emulate some of the sounds often found in Electronica. At its heart is a sequencer which cuts and arranges the incoming audio into user-defined patterns, applying a random selection of dsp effects in the process, allowing you to alter your music in a variety of different ways ranging from quite subtle to extremely bizarre.

You can listen to some examples of Glitch in action here.

Overview

* Realtime, zero-latency VST plugin effect.
* 32-bit internal precision.
* 9 fully adjustable DSP effect modules.
* Resonant filter on every effect with low pass, high pass, band pass and band stop functions.
* Stereo panning, dry/wet mix and volume controls on every effect.
* 64-step (adjustable length) effects sequencer with 16 custom pattern banks.
* Almost every parameter can be automated within the host environment.
* Most of the important parameters can also be continuously controlled via MIDI (if the host supports it).
